Clutch of Niger Uromastyx eggs

The other day we were very pleased to find a clutch of Niger Uromastyx eggs! Our female Nigerian Uromastyx (Uromastyx geyri) has been looking for a place to lay her eggs for a few days now, digging all around her enclosure.

We were very pleased to see that she accepted the egg box we provided her. 🙂

The brown eggs are infertile eggs. We include them in our photos for record keeping, however they are removed before placing the eggs in the incubator. Good record keeping is an important part of successful husbandry.

Our First Clutch of MBK Eggs

Our first clutch of MBK eggs has arrived! We have a thing for darkly colored reptiles, and Mexican Black Kings (Lampropeltis getula nigrita) are no exception.

This female is a couple of years old now, slowly raised to maturity. We’re fortunate to have eight fertile eggs in the first clutch.

Here’s looking forward to those beautiful little black noodles!

Something New and Unexpected

Something new and unexpected today, an Emerald Swift (Sceloporus malachiticus)

Something new and unexpected today, an Emerald Swift (Sceloporus malachiticus). This little guy is one of two babies born a few weeks ago.

We have our Emerald Swifts in a bio-active display setup, housed with multiple species that like to bask. We never expected our Swifts to breed in a multi-species enclosure, so this was a nice surprise. 🙂
