Baby Solomon Island Ground Boas (Candoia paulsoni) were born here at DHR September 26th, 2020. These beautiful, robust boas are known for large litters of small babies.
Baby Solomon Island Ground boas are tiny replicas of their parents. However, they will start to change color after their first few sheds.

Some Ocellated skinks were born the other day.
Ocellated skinks (Chalcides ocellatus) are small skinks (8-11 in) found in Italy (Sardinia, Sicily, Lampedusa island), Malta, Greece (Crete, Karpathos, Rhodos, Kythnos, Kasos), Cyprus, Turkey (Anatolia).
In the last few years, we’ve become huge skink fans, and Ocellated Skinks are one of a few species that have found their way into our menagerie. These beautiful skinks are as smooth as glass, with glossy overlapping dorsal scales and relatively small limbs.

We had some Leopard Boas born here the other day. The sire was a Sonoran Leopard and the dam was Central Hypo HET Leopard.

Fire Skinks are finally hatching! On May 30th our female Fire Skink (Mochlus fernandi) laid her first clutch consisting of five eggs. Now, forty eight days later we have these little gems. 🙂

2020 Hog Island Boas (Boa imperator) has arrived! As some of you may know, these are some of our favorite boas; they’re small, beautiful, and have a great demeanor.
In a couple of weeks once they have all had their first shed and a few meals they’ll be ready for new homes. 🙂

A few weeks ago we found these five perfect little Fire Skink eggs (Mochlus fernandi). This is our first time being fortunate enough to produce these cool little skinks.
Fire Skinks have a wide distribution over much of Africa including Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Nigeria, Gabon, and the Congo.
These small skinks also have a reputation for being flighty, though in our experience, adults are quite placid once accustomed to their surroundings.

Something new hatching at DHR. These are Madagascar Giant Day Geckos (Phelsuma grandis).
These are tiny when they first hatch, however they’ll grow up to be large beautiful adults.
